Day Location Description
1 Arrive Kochi Arrive Kochi by flight. On arrival meet and tranfer to your hotel (standard check in time 12 noon). Rest of the day at leisure. Overnight stay
2 Kochi (Cochin)-Periyar Morning: After breakfast sightseeing tour of Kochi. Visit the Dutch Palace (closed on Fridays), the Jewish Synagogue - (which remains remains closed on Fridays & Saturdays) St. Francis Church and the Santa Cruz Basillica. While driving along the coastline, at the Harbour's mouth, one can also view the unique and still-in-use "Chinese Fishing Nets" which were introduced by the Chinese traders in the 14th Century. The tour ends in the Fort Kochi area where you can walk through the historical Dutch and Portuguese buildings. Some parts of this nearly 500-year old Fort are still amazingly well preserved. Later leave for Periyar. The journey is approximately 195 kms and takes around 5 hours. On arrival, check in at hotel. Overnight stay.
3 Periyar-Kumarakom Periyar is on 1000 meters above the sea level and is rich in spice growing. 95% pepper in India is producted from here. Vasco de Gama was the first European to land on the Malabar Coast in 1498 A.D. in search of spices. Pepper in those days was exported against the equal weight of gold, so in the beginning of 15th century pepper was called black gold. Morning take Boat Ride on Lake Periyar inside the sanctuary. The morning boat ride is the best time to see herds of Wild Elephants and other animals in their natural habitat as they flock to the lake to drink water. Later drive to Jumarakom 143 kms & 4 hours drive. On arrival check in at resort. Overnight stay
4 Kumarakom Kumarakom slumbers on the banks of the famour Vembanad Lake, which is a part of Kuttanad ('granary' of Kerala). The Vembanad Lake with its majestic canals, streams and distributaries along its banks weave an intricate and enchantingly beautiful web. The gorgeous green of the fringed palms ripple in the blue waters and blend into wavelets. Day of leisure for independent activities (No transport incorporated). Overnight stay
5 Kumarakom - Mararikulam Today morning drive to Mararikulam. (35 kms & 45 minutes drive). On arrival check in at your beach resort. Overnight stay
6 Mararikulam Day at leisure ( No transport incorporated). Overnight stay
7 Mararikulam - Kochi - leave Kochi Today in time departure transfer to Kochi airport (65 kms & 1 1/2 hours drive) to board connecting return flight to home or onward destination. End of tour / Check out time 12 noon
