Mauritius
Mauritius is a volcanic island of lagoons and palm-fringed beaches in the Indian Ocean. It has a reputation for stability and racial harmony among its mixed population of Asians, Europeans and Africans. The country is home to some of the world's rarest plants and animals. It is an island for exploring, with Indian temples, colonial houses, botanical gardens, and opportunities to spot rare birds among soaring ebony trees, walk with lions or swim with dolphins.
Plentiful water sports, world class spas, top-flight golf courses, gourmet cuisine, horseback riding and some of the world’s best sport fishing can all be found in Mauritius. The east coast is most renowned, with some of the most celebrated hotels and stretches of arguably the most beautiful white sand beaches, while the flat, calm beaches of the west coast are favoured by families.
